The former president of the municipal council of Favara (Agrigento), Salvatore Lupo, was killed with two gunshots while he was near a bar in via IV Novembre. Lupo is an entrepreneur in the residential sector for the elderly. On the spot are the carabinieri who are listening to witnesses.
Lupo, 45, was arrested in 2017, with his wife, in the “Broken wages” operation. The investigation had revealed that the employees of the “Suami Social Cooperative – Onlus” were first credited to their current account with the monthly payments and then, with ATM cards in the name of the same employees, the sole administrator of the coop, Lupo, would have withdrawn – according to the indictment – half of the salaries. According to the investigation, these “forced” withdrawals of money would have affected over 20 employees. A year earlier Lupo had been investigated as part of another investigation for physical and psychological abuse of some minors, mentally disabled, entrusted, for supervision, assistance and support, to a lodging community in Licata. In November 2011, Lupo’s car, at the time a city councilor, was set on fire.
