Lamborghini Squadra Corse removes the veils from the new Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2, a renewed edition of the racing car that will be the protagonist of the three continental series of the Lamborghini championship from 2022. The Toro technicians intervened to perfect the car’s aerodynamics and design in order to make it the most performing version ever designed to run in the single-make, now in its 13th season.

“Seven years have passed since we presented the first Huracán Super Trofeo at Pebble Beach and today Squadra Corse adds a new chapter to its history”, explains in an official note Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini: “The Huracán is one of the largest bestseller in the history of the brand and the Super Trofeo has contributed to increasing its success ”.

From 2009 to today 950 drivers have raced in the Super Trofeo, disputing over 310 hours of racing on the most prestigious tracks in the world. “The Super Trofeo is the best test bench for testing technical and aerodynamic solutions for both road and GT cars and with the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 we have definitely taken a further step forward”, explains Maurizio Reggiani, Chief Technical Officer Automobili Lamborghini: “In April 2021 we celebrated the finish line of the 400th racing Huracán: our goal with the Super Trofeo EVO2 is to reach 500 in a few years”.

Stylistic exasperation, dictated by technical needs, is also a window on some design solutions that we will see in the years to come. Mitja Borkert, Lamborghini Head of Design confirms this: “When we approached the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 project we immediately thought of the concept of ‘Racing in style’. In other words, a combination of the typical aggressiveness of racing Huracáns and classic stylistic features of the Lamborghini DNA. Furthermore, the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 represents a futuristic aesthetic approach that partially anticipates design elements of the next road range ”.

More specifically, the front features new full LED headlights with a hexagonal design and a pronounced “omega” lip that connects the carbon fins and reinforces the stylistic link with the Huracán STO. Also new are the “air curtain” air intakes, which optimize air flows, keeping them adherent to the sides, and aerodynamic resistance. “The rear, dominated by the wide carbon wing, was inspired by minimalism and lightness. The frames of the new LED headlights pay homage to the Countach design and are ideally supported by the arched carbon bumper, which harmoniously connects the aerodynamic appendages behind the wheels to the redesigned diffuser fins ”, specify the Lamborghini Style Center.

The braking system has been revised – now equipped with steel front discs that go from 380 to 390 mm in diameter – which includes new calipers: the latter allow the use of pads with a larger surface to optimize performance and reduce brake lining wear. The propulsion is entrusted to the naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine, which delivers a maximum power of 620 hp, grounded through a sequential 6-speed gearbox by X-Trac and combined with rear-wheel drive. The price for the European market is 250 thousand euros excluding taxes; customers will have the opportunity to upgrade the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO with a dedicated kit available from early 2022.
