Song Taiping is Li Zhanshu’s rival?

After Song Taiping was investigated, Jiang Weiping, a senior media person, said in a live broadcast from the media that Song Taiping was Li Zhanshu’s rival.

When Xi Jinping’s hard-core confidant and chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress Li Zhanshu served in Hebei in his early years, he was rectified by Hebei Provincial Party Secretary Cheng Weigao and his forces. At that time, Song Taiping served as deputy head of the Hebei Provincial Party Committee Organization Department, director of the Provincial Personnel Department, and party secretary. He was a real power figure in the officialdom of Hebei. When he was proud of his career, it was when Li Zhanshu was rejected.

According to reports, in April 1993, 43-year-old Li Zhanshu was appointed member of the Standing Committee and Secretary-General of the Hebei Provincial Party Committee of the Communist Party of China, promoted to deputy ministerial level, and became the chief steward of Cheng Weigao, then secretary of the Hebei Provincial Party Committee of the Communist Party of China. Due to a conflict with Cheng Weigao’s secretary and then head of the Hebei Provincial State Taxation Bureau, Li Zhen, he was squeezed out by Li Zhen and others. He was quite embarrassed and wandered in a deputy ministerial post for 15 years.

Li Zhanshu was transferred to the deputy head of the Hebei Provincial Party Committee’s Rural Work Leading Group in December 1997. He was even removed from the Provincial Party Committee Secretary-General and served as a short standing committee member. He was only named as the deputy leader of the Provincial Party Committee’s Rural Work Leading Group.

On March 1, 2000, Li Zhen, who was once the secretary of Wei Gao, was “double-regulated” when he was appointed as the director of the Hebei Provincial State Taxation Bureau.

In August 2003, Cheng Weigao, the former Secretary of the Hebei Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Provincial People’s Congress, was expelled from the party and revoked his provincial status after a review by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection for “serious violations of discipline.” On December 28, 2010, Cheng Weigao died of illness in Changzhou at the age of 78. Cheng Weigao’s son, Cheng Muyang, fled to Canada in August 2000 in relation to the Li Zhen case.
