Linchpin Intranet Suite meets Viewtracker – enlightening insights into the use of your intranet

If your company uses an intranet like Linchpin and Confluence, in the best case scenario they are full of valuable content and all the information you need. Many colleagues interact with the platform and there always seems to be something going on there.

However, it is sometimes difficult for those who “enliven” the intranet to find out how well received articles really are. Which posts are read? In which areas are there a lot of users (and why)? Where is it worth investing time – and where is it not? With all of these questions, pure gut feeling no longer helps at some point. Our colleague Dario Heierli von bitvoodoo The following shows you how the duo Linchpin and Viewtracker can shed light on the darkness – and what new features await you soon.

What is View Tracker?

It’s understandable that you – for example as an administrator or someone who creates content – want to know how your intranet and Confluence are actually used. For this reason, our colleagues at bitvoodoo have developed the app “Viewtracker – Analytics for Confluence”. Viewtracker is an analytics app for Confluence that provides detailed insight into who visits which pages in your system, how often and when. Practically a kind of “visitor counter” for your Confluence pages, but with more depth.

Here are some of the key features Viewtracker has to offer:

Page views: How many times was a page viewed? Has the frequency increased or decreased recently?
Details about users: Who visited which page and when? Which areas are most popular with which departments or teams?
Search queries: The “Search Report” reveals important keywords and popular searches in Confluence, while also providing detailed insights into search terms and search frequencies.
Visualisierungs-Tools: Beautiful and easy-to-understand charts and graphs to help you identify patterns and trends in Confluence usage.

Viewtracker integrates seamlessly into Confluence. This means you have all the data you need right at your fingertips without having to switch between different platforms.

New features for new insights

Viewtracker recently added new features that give you even better insights into the use of your Linchpin intranet! Until now, with the help of Viewtracker, you could see which articles have already been read and how many views were made via the Linchpin mobile app. In the future, you will also be able to track specific Linchpin components – something that no analytics app has been able to offer to date.

Linchpin Intranet Suite Tracking

This is made possible by the new “Confluence URL Reports” function. This makes it possible to understand which areas of the Linchpin Intranet Suite are used particularly frequently. By default, URL tracking can be enabled for the following Linchpin components:

Linchpin Enterprise (News Hub)
Linchpin Events (Event Hub)
Linchpin Launchpad
Linchpin Microblog

You can also add your own URLs to the Confluence URL Report – very useful if you want to track a specific Linchpin microblog topic, for example. Also possible: view the use of other third-party apps. The system administrator can manage who has access to the respective reports.

Why are the new features important?

Optimize intranet architecture: Use the data Viewtracker provides you as helpful feedback – it will provide insight into where and how you can optimize your intranet architecture. Heavily used or poorly found areas can be made more visible.
Place content specifically: You can see which Confluence components are accessed most often – so Confluence users know where to place their content so that it can be found.
Easier data analysis in one place with one app: Thanks to the integration of third-party apps, you can seamlessly analyze intranet and Confluence usage. All the information needed to make data-based decisions is covered by one app and presented in a graphically appealing report that can also be exported.

Linchpin and Viewtracker – a powerful duo

Regardless of whether you are a content creator, system administrator or simple user – the Linchpin and Viewtracker duo gives everyone a better overview. With the Viewtracker integration, you get comprehensive and insightful insights into how your Linchpin intranet is being used, allowing you to get the most out of Confluence. In short: less guesswork, more clarity.
