L’utopia at Mous Lambrabat (Photo)

Mous Lamrabat is a photographer born in 1984 in northern Morocco but raised in Belgium. As a child, with his mother and his five brothers, he joined his father, who had already emigrated to Flanders for fifteen years and where he works as a miner.

As a student he graduated in interior architecture but understood that photography allows him to use creativity every day and immediately enjoy the results. Thus he begins to experiment and as a self-taught, he changes course.

Over the years Mous Lamrabat has established himself as a fashion photographer, publishing in magazines such as Esquire and Vogue, but within this genre he has created a world that connects Africa with Europe and feeds on beauty and hope. The photos of him are funny, surreal, light but also provocative on issues such as racism, religion, the African diaspora and women’s rights.

In his new exhibition Blessings from Mousganistan, the photographer guides the viewer through this utopia, sometimes expanding the visual experience with installations that invite you to interact with the works. The event is hosted by the Foam Museum in Amsterdam until 12 October.
