Malta, cases of Covid on the rise: 70 children blocked, 5 are from Friuli Venezia Giulia

UDINE. There are also five young people from Friuli Venezia Giulia in the group of seventy students and operators blocked in Malta, due to some Covid outbreaks. Three are from Trieste and two from Udine. Among them also some positive ones, which however show mild symptoms.

«They were in Malta on a study holiday, now they are all locked in a hotel – says the father of a young regional woman – unfortunately the first symptoms occurred on Tuesday evening, on Wednesday the swabs were taken, from which 20 positivity emerged. After two days of great confusion, from Friday 9 July they were transferred to a more comfortable hotel but they remain locked in the rooms, without the possibility of any contact with the operators.

We are worried – he adds – above all because of the uncertainty about the evolution of the next few days. They are almost all minors who should be repatriated on an ad hoc flight but at the moment nothing is moving. I also appeal to the local authorities of the region to urge the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to unblock the situation as soon as possible ».
