LIKE. The process has reached the final discussion. And on Thursday, before the judicial panel, the public prosecutor Valentina Bossi concluded her indictment with her own requests: six convictions, including criminal association, embezzlement, false invoicing, for a total penalty of 16 years, and five acquittals.

As for the administrative liability of legal persons, the prosecutor asked for a sanction of 400 thousand euros and 3 million confiscation for the equivalent, with reference to the quantification of the profit derived from the crimes.

Sanction and confiscation to be ordered against the Aretè Consortium, which took over from Connecting People by incorporation of companies. These are two lines of investigation relating to the management of the Cie-Cara of Gradisca d’Isonzo, the result of two proceedings reunited in a single process. The reference period is from 2011 to 2013.

A complex story, which revolves around the Connecting People Consortium, which had been entrusted with the management of the Center for asylum seekers. The question essentially concerns the supplies for the Center with respect to the number of guests. The hypotheses of accusation are those of conspiracy and crimes related to the supply of “non-compliant” materials and invoices, related to the reception activity. A long procedure that required 39 hearings of witness investigation, i.e. dedicated to hearing witnesses, and which at this point will culminate in the pronouncement of the sentence, scheduled for next May 27, after giving space to the pleading of the last defender and at reruns. Meanwhile, on Thursday all the other defenders requested acquittal because the fact does not exist.

We come to the specific instances of the prosecutor. A 4-year sentence was requested against Vittorio Isoldi, 72, residing in Gorizia, at the time director of the CIE, in relation to the crime of conspiracy and an episode of embezzlement.

Three years for Giuseppe Scozzari, 46, of Castelvetrano (Trapani), Orazio Ettore Micalizzi, 52, resident in Acireale (Catania), Mauro Maurino, 55, Val Della Torre (Turin), respectively president, vice president and director of the Connecting People, with regard to the criminal association, again according to the public prosecution considered the promoters and organizers.

And again, one year and 6 months the penalty requested against Gianluca Negro, 56, of Gorizia, at the time an employee of Connecting, and of Gianfranco Crisci, owner of a Slovenian company supplying meals to the Consortium, the first for episodes embezzlement, the second for criminal association and false invoicing.

The acquittals requested by the prosecutor instead concern Giovanni Scardina, 49, resident in Trapani, director of the Cie in another period, the employees of the consortium Stefania Acquaviva, 48, resident in Cormons, Flavijo Bello, 52, resident in Mariano, Diego Bezzi, 49, resident in Villesse, accused of an episode of embezzlement (the stealing of 5 mattresses), as well as Pietro Chiaro, of the MTS company for the supply of telephone cards, in relation to the hypothesis of false invoicing. Then the requests for the Connecting People, the sanction of 400 thousand euros and the confiscation for the equivalent of 3 million, to be disposed of at the successor Consorzio Aretè.

An articulated procedure, in the face of crimes already declared prescribed. Among these in particular, the prescription of fraud against the State and fraud in public supplies. And now the 11 defendants are expected to deliver the sentence by the Board chaired by Cristina Arban, alongside the judges Francesca De Mitri and Sergio Antonio Prestianni.
