Five billion for the Adriatic railway line
A second important novelty is the assignment of 5 billion euros to speeding up interventions on the Adriatic railway line, to reduce travel times and increase the transport capacity of goods, in the logic of the creation of a second strategic corridor, next to the Tirrenico, part of the Ten-T European core network. The project will cover the entire Bologna-Lecce line and will allow for the improvement of connections between the north and south of the country.
Two hundred million for the Tirrenica
For the road sector, the budget bill allocates € 2.1 billion for extraordinary maintenance programs and adaptation to climate change of roads in regions, provinces and metropolitan cities. To enhance the “Tirrenica” – a project that has been inactive for many years, necessary for the safety and improvement of mobility in the regions concerned (Lazio, Tuscany and Liguria) – investments of 200 million euros are planned and the same number is intended to contribute the construction of the Cispadana motorway, which affects the Emilia-Romagna Region.
One billion for the A24-A25 motorway
An intervention of one billion is foreseen for the safety and redevelopment programs of the A24-A25 motorway (Rome-breaking latest news and Rome-Teramo), already recipient of huge resources under the NRP.
Funds for the improvement of the railway network
There are funds for investments in the sustainability and resilience of infrastructure. There are resources for three Program Contracts: two with Rete Ferroviaria Italiana for a total of € 10.8 billion aimed at improving the railway network (approximately 5.7 billion for the investment part and 5.1 billion for the services part) and one with Anas for 4.5 billion.
Another 324 million for the works of the Milan-Cortina Olympics
The budget bill assigns an additional 324 million euros to infrastructural works for the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympics, 150 million to complete “unfinished works” and 57 million for compensatory works to be carried out on the territories affected by the Turin-Lyon railway section. For the renewal, also in a green sense, of the fleet of the Port Authorities, 300 million euros are foreseen. Finally, to strengthen the reservoirs plan for water supply, integrating what is already foreseen in the NRP, 440 million euros have been allocated.
