At around 19:00 on July 20, in Xinmi City under the jurisdiction of Zhengzhou, Wang Junjie, deputy director of the Development and Reform Commission of the city, and a group of four colleagues went to the local disaster area to check the disaster situation. Flooding occurred on the way and the four were dispersed. Around 23:00, Wang Junjie lost contact near the Xiangzhang River in Dayi Town, Xinmi City.
From 16 to 17:00 on July 22, Wang Junjie was found, but the man had no vital signs. The remaining 3 colleagues were rescued on the evening of the 20th and the morning of the 21st. Wang Junjie is 47 years old this year. His relatives said: “He went to see if there was a problem with the nearby granary. When he returned, the flood broke the road. He detoured repeatedly and finally went around the place of the accident.”
At 15:00 on July 20, Bai Xiaoping, deputy section chief of the Maintenance Section of the Xinmi City Highway Development Center, went to the Zhengdeng Expressway to collect disaster information. He passed the Xiazhuang River and encountered heavy rain and torrents. He was too late to avoid being washed away. After various searches, he was found and sent to a doctor at around 19:30, and died at around 20:00 after rescue efforts failed.
In addition, Jin Xiaona, chief of the Public Health Department of Yuanzhuang Township Health Center in Xinmi City, suffered a flash flood. The incident occurred on Tuesday (20th) afternoon. Fan Yanping, the director of the health center, and 4 staff members went to the countryside to check the safety of flood control in the village clinics. Since there was no one to take care of his son and daughter at home during the summer vacation, Sun Jianfeng, deputy secretary of the Party branch of the hospital, took his children with them. On the return journey through a flooded bridge, he was suddenly hit by a flash flood, and the medical examination vehicle was rushed into the river. Afterwards, 3 people were rescued and 4 people lost contact.
According to reports, the missing persons are the 8-year-old daughters of Fan Yanping, Jin Xiaona, head of the Public Health Section of the hospital, Fan Hongyang, the head of the CT examination room and office staff of the hospital, and Sun Jianfeng. Among them, Jin Xiaona’s body was recovered on the 21st, and three missing persons have yet to be found.
