First, the tribute to Aldo Moro in via Caetani, where his body was found 43 years ago, on 9 May 1978. Then, the presence in the Senate for the Day in memory of the victims of terrorism and the massacres that this year has coincided with the beatification of the “boy judge”, Rosario Livatino.
The President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella participated in the two commemorations reiterating that “the complete truth about the years of lead is a fundamental requirement for the Republic”. The solicitation of the truth was also underlined by the presidents of the Senate and the Chamber, Maria Elisabetta Casellati and Roberto Fico, at Palazzo Madama, where the president of the Association of the relatives of the victims of the Bologna massacre, Paolo Bolognesi, launched precise accusations about the misdirection.
The memory of Moro has been associated by many with that of Peppino Impastato, killed by the mafia on the mandate of the boss Badalamenti. “There are many pages yet to be reconstructed – underlined Casellati – and the silences often make more noise than bombs. Parliament has also played its part against the mysteries. Thanks to an initiative shared with President Fico, we have achieved a historic result: the removal of functional secrecy from the acts of the committees of inquiry that have worked on terrorism and the massacres. These are 32 lines of investigation, about 7400 documents and over one hundred thousand pages of documents, minutes, hearings and reports in which the story built on fear and the strategy of tension is told. The path of truth that we have traveled together in these decades has certainly made us more solid and strong in facing the many enemies, internal and external, of yesterday and today “.
Fico added: «There can be no full reconciliation without full justice. It is necessary to overcome the misdirection, complicity, omissions put in place even by deviated sectors of the state ”. On the red herrings Paolo Bolognesi recalled how the former head of state Francesco Cossiga, in an interview in 2008, relaunched the Palestinian trail, “which for years slowed down the investigation”, while the prefect Vincenzo Parisi, in two hearings to the massacres Commission, he united “the massacre of Ustica with that of Bologna, creating a misdirection of the media”.
