BORGO VALBELLUNA. The former mayor of Lentiai, Armando Vello is acquitted on appeal. He was accused of having favored the marshal of Mel, Cosimo Fanigliulo and the head of the traffic police of Lentiai, Fabio Cavalet, by revealing to them an investigation, which concerned them. The investigation had started, after the fine taken by the military and paid by the commander of the local police. A personal problem and points on the license.
On Thursday the Venice Court of Appeal ruled that the fact does not exist. In Belluno, the mayor had been sentenced to 20 days, because – after being heard by the prosecutor Pavone as a person informed on the facts – he would have summoned Fanigliulo and Cavalet to his office to ask for explanations.
For the rest, the Court partially reformed the sentence to the soldier Cosimo Fanigliulo, passing from one year and five months and 15 days to one year and one month for forgery. Already acquitted of charges of fraud, abuse of office, injury, unlawful arrest of street vendor Lucky Osarenkhoe and slander, some of his unjustified absences from the service memorial are barred and no longer valid.
Confirmed, however, the three months for the commander of the Lentiai brigade, Fabio Cavalet for false self-certification, because even according to the Venetian magistrates the Alfa Romeo that was going too fast on 18 September 2013, in via Madonna del Piave, was not his and at the wheel was Fanigliulo, who had received a fine of 186 euros.
It was the latter who should have lost the three points. The sentence was suspended for all, with no mention. The lawyers Riponti for Fanigliulo, Casciarri for Cavalet and Dolif and Frate for Vello had asked for the sentence to be reformed, this point, the first two will go to the Supreme Court. In the story of the abuse of office and the injuries, two other carabinieri were involved, immediately acquitted, at the request of the defender Cesa, but also of the prosecutor Gallego. –
