Rescuers at work all night, fear new collapses
(ANSA) – ROME, JUN 25 – The desperate search for the 99 missing in the rubble of the 12-storey building that collapsed yesterday north of Miami continues. The Skynews correspondent reports it on the spot. At least one person died and dozens were extracted alive.
The families of those who lived in the building – including the sister of the first lady of Paraguay, 20 Israeli citizens and 19 South Americans – await news gathered in a center near the building.
With the onset of darkness, rescuers began to use night vision cameras and trained dogs. In an attempt to reach the survivors and to avoid further collapses, the teams are digging a tunnel in the underground parking lot. Some of them reported hearing sounds of knocks and other noises but no voices for now.
