According to reports, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment has actively promoted the coordinated efforts of local and relevant departments. All provinces and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps and 388 cities (including municipalities and counties) have issued implementation plans. A total of 327 supporting documents have been formulated in various regions for the negotiation of compensation disputes, investigation, appraisal and evaluation, as well as the use, management and supervision of compensation funds.
In addition, five laws including the Civil Code and the Yangtze River Protection Law, the Central Ecological Environmental Protection Supervision Work Regulations, 13 provincial-level ecological environmental protection supervision measures, and 19 provincial local regulations all provide for the ecological environment damage compensation system.
“In advancing this work, all localities use case practice as an important starting point to promote reforms and repair the damaged ecological environment in a timely manner.” Bie Tao said that as of November 2021, more than 7,600 ecological projects have been handled nationwide.
