A thirty-year-old Spaniard was expected today, Monday 4 July, at work in London but did not show up, setting off the alarm. He had arrived on vacation a week ago
On Saturday 2 July he had booked a room in a hotel in Belluno where he never arrived and today, Monday 4 July, they were waiting for him at work in London, where he lives. And it was precisely this absence that triggered the search for a Spanish hiker this afternoon who had decided to spend a holiday along the Alta Via number one. It is a thirty-year-old named Javier, who arrived for the Dolomite crossing on July 1st. On the ninth and last day of the walk he slept at the Pramperet Refuge and left there on Saturday 2, at 7, headed for Belluno where he never arrived. The brother raised the alarm today as he did not see him arrive at work.
At the moment about twenty rescuers from Belluno, Agordo and Longarone are looking for him along the various exit routes from the Alta via: Valclusa, Moschesin, Forcella La Varetta, Costa dei Nas, Forcella Pongol, Creste Scalabras.
Javier is 1.85m tall, wears a black jacket, wears a bandana and has a backpack. Anyone who had come across him is asked to call the carabinieri.
