The project could be incorporated in the Intervention Plan. Ruffoni’s no: “We lose social functions for new holes”
MOGLIANO. In place of the retirement home, announced in 2005, a supermarket will arrive. The redevelopment of the former drying room in via Casoni, in the eastern district, seems destined to follow the script already seen with the settlement of Cadoro, in the historic center, in the former Macevi area. The one on the corner between via dello Scoutismo and via Casoni, which borders to the west with the courtyard of the Arcobaleno Kindergarten, is an old abandoned production space, which for decades has been in a state of decay.
Among the proposals for a public private agreement (pursuant to art.6), received in the municipal offices, in view of the drafting of the new Intervention Plan, one of the most important is the one filed in recent months by the engineer Antonio Martini, owner of the homonymous study. In agreement with the current owners (the sisters Loredana and Luciana Carpenedo), the construction of a supermarket within 1500 square meters is planned, offering the administration some urban improvement interventions in the area for 373 thousand euros in exchange. They range from the construction of a parking lot for the Anne Frank schools (in the courtyard area north of the complex), new trees and pedestrian spaces in via dello Scoutismo, the arrangement of the parking lot of the Arcobaleno park and the renunciation of the planned subdivision on an area of 854 square meters (residential function which private individuals give up only partially by asking for a building credit of 5 thousand cubic meters).
According to rumors, the new supermarket will belong to the Alì chain, already present in the area and it is likely that it is a simple move. The issue, as well as a similar proposal put forward by Lidl on Terraglio for the former Mercury, along the banks of the River Zero, will be examined in the coming weeks as part of the final approval process of the Intervention Plan. The town planning document will be presented to the commissions by mid-July and publicly illustrated during the summer.
However, the president of the eastern district, Piergiorgio Ruffoni, is critical of the supermarket hypothesis: «In the space of 15 years we lose the prospect of a social purpose for that area. We disagree because these operations do not seem sustainable at all: Cadoro’s example is eloquent, after the new opening the one in via Svevo remained empty. Will the same happen for Ali? Will they move and will another black hole remain? It doesn’t seem to me that these projects improve our city ».
