He could not bear the discomfort linked to the suspension of his driving license that he had remedied in mid-July: for Vittorino Favaro, 62, a retired policeman, after a life spent enforcing the rules and respecting them in turn, that episode had become almost a ‘ obsession. A stain on a curriculum and a reputation up to that moment irreproachable, caused simply by an evening, that of the last redeemer, spent in company. This is why he decided to end it all.
The painful discovery fell to the family. He lived in via Casoni and since Thursday his home has been under seizure by the carabinieri. The grave mourning also affects the former president of the province Leonardo Muraro, cousin and great friend of Favaro: «He hadn’t hurt anyone, he didn’t cause accidents» he explains «and despite this he could not find peace. In recent weeks we have met often, after the withdrawal of the license he had entered into crisis. We are destroyed, Vito was a special person, of great moral depth, he had dedicated his life to his family: he was a serious worker and had always been close to his sister Giuliana, who died prematurely six years ago, and later also to his mother, who died a year ago ».
On Saturday evening a mass in memory of the two relatives is scheduled, strongly desired and organized by Vittorino himself. «He was a great lover of the sea, of fishing, of sailing» recalls Muraro «he also loved sport, in particular cycling: he indulged in these passions in the time he managed to carve out between work and family commitments. We are speechless, no one would ever have expected a similar gesture from him ».
Favaro had worked until a few years ago in the border police, many acquaintances remember him as a distinguished, respectful and helpful person. He was stopped and sanctioned on his way back from the hamlet of Portegrandi, in the municipality of Quarto d’Altino, after celebrating with some friends. –
