First the controversies, including political ones, on military exercises close to the beaches of southern Sardinia, with 17 off-limits areas, 65 ships and 4 thousand men engaged in the training of the Open Sea 2022, then the protests of the pacifists and now also a night raid , complete with Molotov cocktails, smoke bombs and red paint launched at the entrance of the Army Military Command in Sardinia. Three facts unrelated to each other but which seem to be traced back, on very different levels, to the long-standing battle against those military servitudes that affect the island for 35 thousand hectares, largely on the three largest polygons in Europe (Teulada, Quirra- San Lorenzo and Capo Frasca), that is 61% of the entire territory bound by the stars in Italy.
And after the peaceful demonstration against the war, the military bases and exercises that took place right in front of the military command yesterday morning, tomorrow in Sant’Anna Arresi – which, with the Porto Pino coast, is one of the municipalities closest to the polygon of Teulada where the Open Sea 2022 exercise is taking place – there will be another demonstration against the military presence in Sardinia, with the anti-militarists and independence parties in the square. In the meantime, the agents of the Digos of the Cagliari Police Headquarters are working to identify the about 20 people who last night threw a Molotov cocktail against the entrance of the Command in via Torino after having acquired the footage of the cameras of the area and of the army.
At the moment the investigations are focusing on groups belonging to the anarchist-antagonists. The condemnation of this raid was unanimous by the institutions, but also by the national partisans association. “A grave and cowardly gesture that offends the Army and the Defense”, Defense Minister Lorenzo Guerini defined it, adding: “we will certainly not be intimidated and I hope that the perpetrators of the action will soon be identified”.
For the governor Christian Solinas “A hateful gesture that offends the whole of Sardinia”, while the deputy Fdi Salvatore Deidda announces that he will bring the case to Parliament. Even the regional Anpi “strongly condemns the attack” and makes it known that “it believes in the strength of democracy and believes that gestures like this are not compatible with the request, which the Anpi has also made, for a stop to military exercises in course in the seas and polygons of the south of the island ».
