Monsignor Giuseppe Baturi from Catania, archbishop of Cagliari since 2019, was elected vice president of the Italian Bishops’ Conference for the central Italy area.

Fifty-seven years old, an expert in canon law and a great educator, Monsignor Baturi had been undersecretary of the CEI before his appointment as archbishop, and before that episcopal vicar of the diocese of Catania, parish priest in Valcorrente and regional head of Communion and Liberation.

At the moment there are two out of three Sicilian vice-presidents of the CEI: in addition to Msgr. Baturi, in fact, there is also the bishop of Acireale, Msgr. Antonino Raspanti.
