[NTDTV, Beijing time, January 22, 2022]The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China scheduled to be held this fall is related to whether Xi Jinping can be re-elected. Prior to this, the relevant personnel card positions have been intensively activated. In more than 30 provinces across the country, more than a dozen provincial-level “leaders” have been selected.

In the past two days, there have been changes in the “top leaders” in many places in China. On January 21, personnel changes were reported in Zhejiang Province and the “political powerhouse” of Chongqing at the same time. Wang Hao and Hu Henghua were elected Governor of Zhejiang Province and Mayor of Chongqing respectively.

According to public information, Wang Hao was born in October 1963 in Shanxian County, Shandong Province. From 1982 to 2017, he had been working in Shandong. He left Shandong in December 2017 and served as a member of the Standing Committee of the Hebei Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Tangshan Municipal Party Committee. In August 2019, Wang Hao was transferred to the Standing Committee of the Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Xi’an Municipal Party Committee. In September 2021, Wang Hao will be the acting governor of Zhejiang Province.

58-year-old Hu Henghua is from Hengnan, Hunan. He has worked in Hunan for more than 30 years, during which he served as director of Hunan Economic Commission, mayor of Yiyang City, director of Hunan Development and Reform Commission, and mayor of Changsha City.

In October 2020, Hu Henghua was transferred to the deputy secretary of the Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee. In December 2021, he was transferred to the deputy secretary of the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee, and later served as the acting mayor of Chongqing.

The day before, on January 20, Hebei Province and Jiangxi Province also successively established candidates for governors. Wang Zhengpu was the governor of Hebei Province, and Ye Jianchun was the governor of Jiangxi Province. Both of them are former acting governors turned full governors.

Since the end of last year, personnel adjustments in various provinces and cities in China have been intensively launched. Especially since the provincial and local two sessions have been gradually opened at the beginning of this year, many acting provincial (city) mayors have been “regularized”, and more than 10 provincial “top leaders” have been intensively promoted.

Including Yan Jinhai of Tibet, Wang Zhengpu of Hebei, Wang Hao of Zhejiang, Ye Jianchun of Jiangxi, Hu Henghua of Chongqing, Li Lecheng of Liaoning, Xu Kunlin of Jiangsu, Wang Weizhong of Guangdong, Zhao Long of Fujian and Erken Tu of Xinjiang Niaz.

With the successive convening of the local two sessions (the National People’s Congress and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference), it is expected that the “top leaders” of various provinces and municipalities will be in place one after another. This is considered to be a key part of Xi Jinping’s personnel position before the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.
