Mountain, hiker dies on the Lucca side of the Apuan Alps

A man died today while he was making an excursion on the Lucca side of the Apuan Alps, while the woman who was with him got stuck and is still waiting to be reached by rescuers. According to an initial reconstruction by the mountain rescue men, the two hikers were trying to reach the summit of Roccandagia at 1,717 meters high. During the excursion, however, they took a path different from the traditional one probably downloaded from the web which led them to the rocky plates in the final part of the channel, on a particularly steep and steep terrain characterized by vertical debris. For the man, who fell downstream while he was on one of the slabs, there was nothing to do. The girl who was with him was instead stuck on particularly treacherous ground. Rescue operations, due to fluctuating weather conditions, are proving to be particularly complex also due to the fact that the bad weather has not yet allowed the intervention of the helicopter rescue.
