Turin, Appendino’s step backwards and the agreement with the Democratic Party
The decision of the M5S mayor of Turin Chiara Hangers not to reapply seems to open the way to an M5S-Pd agreement in the Piedmontese capital. Especially since the current first citizen has sponsored an agreement that traces the majority of the former Conte 2 government. But the agreement has not yet been found. Two names have been circulated so far. Mauro Salizzoni, internationally renowned surgeon and current Vice President of the Regional Council, who has however retired, e Stefano Lo Russo, a young professor at the Polytechnic, the current leader of the Pd group.
Turin, the entrepreneur Damilano in the center-right on the field
The center-right seems to be directed towards the civic candidate also in Turin. The candidate towards whom the coalition seems to be converging is the entrepreneur Paolo Damilano which was indicated by the Lega leader Matteo Salvini himself, even if Forza Italia has not yet dissolved all reservations.
Naples, Fico in the field in the event of an M5S-Pd pact
In the center-left camp, the names in the Pd share that have been circulating for some time are those of the former ministers Gaetano Manfredi O Vincenzo Amendola. Among the hypotheses also the candidacy of the President of the Chamber, Roberto Fico, especially in the case of a PD-M5s alliance (in this case the presidency of Montecitorio would go to a member of the Democratic Party: we are talking about Piero Fassino O Dario Franceschini). But the governor will certainly have a heavy role in choosing the candidate Vincenzo De Luca, on the strength of the electoral success of a few months ago, hostile to the Pd-M5s axis. Without forgetting the former mayor and former president of the Region, Antonio Bassolino, already taken to the field and supported by civic lists if the dem choose to bet on a different name. The current mayor Luigi De Magistris, no longer eligible for reappointment after two terms, aims at the leadership of the Calabria Region. And already indicated what should be his possible heir: the current Councilor for heritage, public works and young people Alessandra Clemente.
Napoli, Lega-FdI derby on the name
Fluid situation also in the center-right. The most popular name remains that of the public prosecutor anticamorra Catello Maresca (“ideal” candidate for Salvini), who could propose a “civic” candidacy, but the president of the Brothers of Italy, Giorgia Meloni has relaunched the lawyer as potential mayor Sergio Rastrelli, son of the former president of the Campania Region, Antonio, historical exponent of the Neapolitan right. Also in the center-right area, the name of Riccardo Monti is also mentioned.
Bologna, in the center-left Lepore on pole
In Bologna, after the two mandates signed Virginio Merola, the Democratic Party is looking for a new candidate, probably through the now classic primary, party or coalition, which could take place in June. After months of debate, the candidate who collects the largest share of the consensus is Matteo Lepore, councilor for culture of the Merola junta. Lepore, close to the Sardines and the world to the left of the Democratic Party, has already received the support of the president of the region Stefano Bonaccini, the outgoing mayor and important parts of the party. Once the hypotheses of nominating the MEP Elisabetta Gualmini or the deputy dem Bolognese Andrea De Maria, his only internal opponent has remained another councilor (for urban security and commerce), Alberto Aitini, supported by the reformist base, the current that at national level refer to Luca Lotti and Lorenzo Guerini. Massimo Bugani, president of the M5s group in the municipality, has started a “yard of ideas” to build the alliance with the center-left. And a convergence of the Movement on the candidate for mayor dem already in the first round is not excluded.
