Corriere Sera reports brief statements about Ali’s parents
(ANSA) – TRIESTE, 10 JAN – “He was like a son for us, I can’t understand, I can’t, it’s one thing …” are the only words uttered by the mother of the 21-year-old Alì, stopped by the carabinieri as part of the investigation into the murder of Robert, 17, of Serbian origin. The words are reported by the Corriere della Sera, in an article published on the site, specifying that the woman – a Moroccan citizen – was met at the Trieste Carabinieri Command, where she came with her husband to be heard by the investigators.
Her husband, a Lebanese citizen, is even more laconic: “I’m sorry for the boy and his family”, he only says.
In the reconstruction made by the newspaper, between Ali and Robert there would have been a deep friendship, which then turned into antagonism and resulted in hatred precisely because the two were competing for the girl. The attacker had the intention of teaching Robert a lesson, according to the Corriere, but then in the fight Ali would have lost his head and killed the minor with a string tied around his throat.
