From 4 to 44. There are many mayors who supported the proposal of the mayor of Pavone Endro Bevolo and of the Municipalities of Colleretto Giacosa, Samone and Salerano advanced in the conference of the mayors of the ASL / To4 on 8 April last to also include the Ribes area among those to be examined by the Region as a place to set up the new hospital in Ivrea. The proposal of the four mayors had generated a wide debate even with harsh tones and only with the intervention of the mayor of Ciriè Loredana Devietti a mediation was found: to give an account in the minutes of this request and not to modify the document of the restricted commission of the 16 Municipalities who had identified the areas to be submitted to the attention of the Region in the former Montefibre in Ivrea and the former Olivetti district of Scarmagno. Bevolo, for his part, had undertaken to rewrite the document with the proposal of the four Municipalities and send it to the Region. In a couple of weeks, however, the proposal of the four municipalities found the support of forty other administrators. Among these, all the mayors of Valchiusella, many of the Alto Canavesane valleys, Rivarolo, Castellamonte and Cuorgnè, Borgofranco and Scarmagno himself.
The project and the report with the candidacy of the Ribes site were therefore sent in recent days to the regional councilor for Health Luigi Icardi, to the president of the ASL / To4 mayors’ conference Stefano Sertoli and, for information, to all the mayors of the territory of the health company. Attached to the document, all the signatures of the 44 mayors.
The last chapter of the story that for over a year has led the mayors to discuss the location to be proposed for the new hospital in Ivrea, at the service of the Eporediese and the upper Canavese area, is a tear in the territory that is confirmed as divided in two. And, even publicly, in recent days, there has been no lack of references (even with some polemical tone) among the mayors on the occasion of the visit of the President of the Region Alberto Cirio last Thursday. The Ribes area had in fact already been rejected by the committee of 16 mayors who had been asked to draw up a document to be submitted to the ASL assembly and then to the Region. «In the assembly the mayors gathered and, in particular, Sertoli – Bevolo declares – told us that, if we wanted, we would have to present our candidacy independently without it being approved by the assembly. So we did, we polished the report by highlighting our strengths and eliminating the part concerning the defects of the Ivrea area as we were asked. We are satisfied that the territory has given us this broad support. Now we are waiting to be summoned by the councilor Icardi to explain the potential of the area. It is not up to us to decide where the new hospital will be built, but in this way there are more hypotheses under consideration and the possibility of choosing a truly optimal site ». The document was in fact also signed by mayors who were part of the commission (Rueglio, Cuorgnè, Castellamonte and Rivarolo). Alberto Rostagno, mayor of Rivarolo explains: «The work of the commission, of which I was a member and where we had already voted with various mediations, has not been denied. The point is that the commission concluded its work last December and, since then, things have changed. Nobody knew of Italvolt’s announcement on the Scarmagno area which, however, is also being studied for the hospital. However, the need has arisen to broaden the gaze and insert an area that, in our opinion, could be suitable. Then it is the Region that must evaluate and decide and I am ready to share any result that emerges from the technicians ». –
