BELLUNO. Months of waiting have been rewarded: the Sport and suburbs call rewards Belluno and Quero Vas, who will receive the much-hoped-for contribution to redevelop the Spes arena and the Vas building. There are only two projects financed in the province of Belluno, out of the thirteen that had been presented under the tender promoted by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Department for Sport. There are 300 million euros available throughout Italy. 3,380 applications arrived.
The municipalities of Val di Zoldo and Seren di Grappa have not obtained the funds, without explicit motivation in the ranking. Alano di Piave and Agordo were also dry, because the tender provided for an allocation of funds unbalanced towards the South (80%). Excluded after the investigation, due to the lack of some documents, the Asd Fonzaso, the Gs Fiori Barp tennis which would have arranged the sports area of the Mas, the Sporting club Lessinia which would have used the funds for works at the Palasport di Longarone, and Municipalities of Santa Giustina and Borgo Valbelluna. The latter, however, are checking the documentation, which appears to be in order, and could appeal to be admitted to the ranking. The Municipality of Chies d’Alpago and the Orienteering Dolomiti association were also excluded from funding because the projects did not comply with the indications of the announcement.
SPES ARENA
The Municipality of Belluno obtained 695 thousand euros, money that will be used to redo the roof of the Spes arena. The intervention costs almost a million, but the Municipality is ready to do its part: the hypothesis of a mortgage is evaluated, but the thermal account could also help, because the replacement of a roof guarantees energy savings. “Now we will have to take up the economic picture again, because the project was presented in September last year and the costs of raw materials have risen,” explains the councilor for sport, Marco Bogo. “We also want to redo the lighting system, putting the LED lights”.
Replacing the roof will allow not only to experience bad weather episodes with less concern (the Spes is closed when it snows because the roof cannot bear an excessive weight), but also to reopen the upper part of the stands, now closed to the public for reasons of safety related to fire prevention. “The plant will thus go from a thousand current spectators to 2,200-2,700”, adds Bogo. Which, one year after the end of the mandate, draws the sums of a fruitful work: between contributions obtained (about two million euros) and investments from the municipal budget, almost all the plants of the city. For the Polisportivo, the latest major project worth 3.7 million euros, news is awaited from the second call for urban regeneration.

The contribution of 365 thousand euros obtained by the State will allow the Municipality of Quero Vas to cover all the costs for the renovation of the Vas building. A lamellar (“balloon”) structure that will be rebuilt by spending about one and a half million euros, creating a building with high energy savings, with photovoltaic panels on the roof. “For this intervention we have also obtained regional contributions and we are ready to put a share as a municipality,” explains the mayor, Bruno Zanolla. “The contribution of the Sport and suburbs call for proposals represents the part that was missing to start the works”. They will start next spring.
The sports hall is managed by Gs Astra and is used by many sports groups for various activities. The changing rooms will also be redone. “With this project we will complete the redevelopment of the plants on our territory”, concludes Zanolla.
