CCTV News, Beijing, January 4 According to the “News and Newspaper Digest” of the Voice of China, China Central Radio and Television, this year’s New Year’s Day holiday, my country’s consumption of goods and services heated up, and the New Year’s “good start” was achieved.

The Ministry of Transport announced on the 3rd that within three days of the New Year’s Day holiday, the total number of passengers sent by railways, highways, waterways, and civil aviation across the country is expected to be 86.185 million. The postal industry across the country is expected to collect 920 million parcels, a year-on-year increase of 22.60%; deliver 960 million parcels, a year-on-year increase of 26.50%.

During the New Year’s Day, consumer goods markets in various regions were operating prosperously and orderly, and supply and marketing were smooth and active. Department stores, supermarkets, specialty stores, catering, and e-commerce companies monitored by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Commerce achieved sales of 3.89 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 18.8%; the city’s 52 key business districts exceeded 16 million passengers, a year-on-year increase of 35 %. According to the monitoring and incomplete statistics of key commercial circulation enterprises by the Jiangsu Business System, during the New Year’s Day holiday (January 1st to January 3rd), sales reached approximately 7.85 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 8.4%. The retail sales of Chongqing’s main business districts and key monitored commercial and trade enterprises reached 7.507 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.5%.

During the New Year’s Day holiday this year, cultural and tourism venues in various regions have abundant activities, and the cultural and tourism market is safe and orderly. The box office of Chinese movies on New Year’s Day exceeded 1 billion yuan. Shanghai received a total of 5,174,200 tourists, and realized tourism consumption of approximately 12.56871 billion yuan; the average room occupancy rate of hotels was 55%, a year-on-year increase of 3%. According to preliminary estimates by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, Guangdong received 11.115 million tourists, with tourism revenue of 6.7 billion yuan. The 661 A-level tourist attractions included in the statistics in Sichuan Province received 6,238,600 tourists and realized ticket revenue of RMB 5,477,300. Compared with the key scenic spots included in the statistics in 2021, the number of visitors increased by 8.84% and ticket revenue increased by 3.84%.
