Complaints for defamation and damage to information, data and computer programs were launched, four Italian women aged between 40 and 60, all residing outside the region
TRIESTE. The State Police of Trieste denounced four Italian women aged between 40 and 60, all residing outside the region, for defamation and damage to information, data and computer programs. The episode dates back to last spring, in the midst of the anti-Covid vaccination campaign when, on May 13, 2021, the vice president of the Region and councilor for health Riccardo Riccardi, had filed a libel suit in the offices of the Digos of the Trieste Police Headquarters. to the publication of numerous posts on his Facebook profile with disparaging content and in open contrast to vaccination.
At the records copy of some comments and a list of profiles from which they had started. The secretariat of the vice president, in charge of managing the Facebook profile, confirmed the receipt of a considerable amount of comments from a group of people with the nickname “VV”, a clear reference to membership in an explicitly no vax group. Digos staff after having carried out the analysis of the documentation, found that the numerous comments were essentially attributable to two types of posts, sent in a systematic and repetitive manner by many members of the group using the “mail bombing” technique.
Following the investigations, it emerged that many of the profiles were “fake”, ie created ad hoc and in some cases deleted. Starting from the few traces left, the activity coordinated by the deputy prosecutor Cristina Bacer has therefore led to denounce the four authors of the cyber attack.
