San Vito Hospice in quarantine: infected 4 colleagues, one oss and 2 patients, one of which later died. Meanwhile, Zanon is hospitalized

SAN VITO AL TAGLIAMENTO. There are five Covid positive health workers at the San Vito al Tagliamento hospice. Two patients were also infected, immediately transferred to hospital, one of whom died of various and previous pathologies.

The San Vito facility welcomes terminally ill patients with cancer. In recent weeks, an operator of the facility, who had not been vaccinated by choice, and who is in quarantine, had tested positive. Hence all the controls, with rapid and molecular swabs on other operators and on all patients. After initial negative results, the contagion spread. In recent days, the discovery of new positivity.

This time it was not a question of people who had not vaccinated by choice, but for various reasons, including an evaluation of the compatibility of the vaccine with individual clinical pictures. Eventually everyone had an appointment for the first dose just these days.

In total, 4 nurses and a social health worker were infected. Some of them are also symptomatic. During the checks, two patients also tested positive, immediately transferred to hospital. One passed away immediately after hospitalization, not because of Covid, the other has no symptoms.

The San Vito hospice is currently in quarantine and until at least 20 April there are no admissions of new patients or discharge of those stabilized.

The swabs, rapid and molecular, will also continue in the next few days until the 20th, when all operators and patients will be subjected to new checks. In the event of everyone’s negativity, the hospice will be able to reopen the following day. But there is a risk that, due to sick staff, they do so in small ranks, with fewer than 10 beds available. This will depend on when operators who are positive today can return to service.

And while the situation is improving at the Santa Maria degli Angeli hospital in Pordenone where the number of patients in the Covid wards has been reduced to about 60, Emanuele Zanon, former mayor of Cavasso Nuovo today in the regional council in the mixed group, was hospitalized, after the positivity found in recent days.

Still in the hospital, one of the two medicines intended to welcome Covid patients now has few and negativized patients, so we are moving towards the return of the ward to its original functions for internist patients. One medicine, pulmonology with 10 semi-intensive places, and intensive care remain reserved for Covid patients.

Finally Massimo Braganti, general manager of the central Friuli health authority, leaves Udine. It will be the new number one in Umbrian healthcare. –
