North Kivu: resumption of fighting between the Wazalendo and the M23

Fighting resumed on Sunday April 14 morning between Wazalendu fighters and M23 rebels, on the Vunano-Kimoka axis and at the place commonly called “Chez Madimba” as well as on other hills overlooking the city of Sake, in the Kamuronza group, Masisi territory.

Local sources in Sake indicate that following these new clashes, road traffic between Sake and Kitshanga is interrupted pending the recovery of the situation.

While a lull has been observed over the past three days on the front lines, this Sunday morning, the M23 rebels again attacked the positions of the Wazalendo resistance fighters, on the Vunamo-Malehe axis.

It was around 8 a.m. that some motorcycle drivers, who were heading towards Kitshanga, were forced to stop their movement, while waiting for the situation to recover.
