According to informed sources, before the arrest of Zhu Xianjian, a reporter found that his home had been stolen, and he took the cigarette butt left by a suspected “thief” to the police and determined that the cigarette butt was left by Zhu Xianjian.
According to information released by Jilin Satellite TV, on November 28, the Jilin City Public Security Bureau arrested Zhu Xianjian in Heixiazigou, Songhua Lake, Fengman District.
According to a video of the arrest scene released by the media, Zhu Xianjian was suspected of having a leg injury, and his expression was painful when he was carried into the car. Witnesses at the scene said that Zhu Xianjian was shot in the leg and was captured after being wounded.
Red Star News reported on the 29th that a local villager in Heixiazigou of Songhua Lake said that a local villager had recently discovered that something was missing. Traces of life were found in a culvert (heating ditch) in Songhua Lake scenic area. There were bedding and bowls in the culvert. Chopsticks, cigarettes and other items.
The villager also mentioned that the culvert was wet and cold, but the living conditions were better than those outside. He estimated that Zhu Xianjian lived here for about four days. Before Zhu Xianjian was arrested, villagers found human footprints on nearby snowy ground.
As for the informant and the arrest process, a person close to the police, Chen said, that the incident was an old woman who was visiting the villa at the arrest place (Heixiazigou, Fengman District, Jilin City). She discovered that her home’s clothing, razors and other items were stolen. Later, the cigarette butt left by the suspected thief was taken to the police, and the local police determined that the cigarette butt was left by Zhu Xianjian through the DNA comparison of the cigarette butt.
Zhu Xianjian is of North Korean nationality. He is 39 years old and crossed the border from North Korea to China in the early morning of July 21, 2013. Later, he was sentenced to eleven years and three months imprisonment by the Yanji City Court for the crimes of crossing the border, theft, and robbery, and was fined 16,000 yuan and deported. Since then, Zhu Xianjian has been commuted twice, which should have expired on August 21, 2023.
On October 18 this year, Zhu Xianjian, a criminal who was serving his sentence in Jilin Prison, took advantage of the closing time to escape by climbing the AB gate canopy to the prison wall. In response, Jilin Prison issued a reward of 100,000 to 150,000 yuan on October 19.
Since Zhu Xianjian escaped, the public security bureaus in Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning and other places have issued notices for assisting investigations, and many places have also issued reward announcements to apprehend the criminal Zhu Xianjian.
According to the Southern Metropolis Daily, on November 9, the Erdao District Bureau of the Changchun City Public Security Bureau in Jilin Province issued a reward notice against the fugitive Zhu Xianjian, stating that those who provide clues to assist in the arrest or directly arrest criminals will be rewarded with RMB 200,000.
On November 14, the Jilin City Public Security Bureau of Jilin Province issued a notice again, offering a reward of 500,000 yuan to the wanted criminal Zhu Xianjian from Jilin Prison.
A reward announcement issued by the Public Security Bureau of Kuandian County, Dandong, Liaoning Province on November 16 shows that anyone who provides clues to directly arrest Zhu Xianjian, an escaped criminal from Jilin Prison, will be rewarded with RMB 70.
Regarding the announcement of the reward issued by the Jilin Municipal Public Security Bureau earlier, the relevant staff of the Jilin Municipal Public Security Bureau told the media that he did not know the identity of the reporter and the implementation of the reward.
