[NTDTVBeijingtimeMay192022]Recently, a man from Northeast China wanted to escape from Shanghai but could not get a ticket. He bought a second-hand car for 8,500 yuan on a whim and drove back to Daqing City, Heilongjiang.

The northeastern man posted a video on social platforms, sharing his experience of returning to his hometown in the northeast from Shanghai. He said that because he couldn’t buy a ticket home, he spent 8,500 yuan to buy a dilapidated second-hand car and planned to drive back to the northeast.

He got the proof of leaving Shanghai, prepared the food, and exchanged with the two of his friends to continue on the highway. Because the appearance of the car was quite broken, and the whole journey had to span more than 2,000 kilometers, the man was very nervous, worried that the car would break down on the way.

“I don’t know if I can drive home, let’s see if it works or not,” the man said in the video recorded when he set off.

After two days and three nights of long-distance running, the man’s heart gradually eased as he got closer to his hometown. When arriving in Jilin City, the man said excitedly, “Jilin, I’m here!”

When he arrived in Harbin, the man said, “Finally it’s over.”

When the car arrived at Daqing smoothly, the eldest brother said happily, “Ah, I’m finally getting home.”

At present, he has started 7+7 centralized isolation. (click to watch video)

The video of the northeastern man fleeing Shanghai by car sparked heated discussions among netizens: “Big brother is really a ruthless man.” “Actually, it’s not a loss, but if you go back, you can sell it for a few thousand dollars, and then it’s equivalent to spending a few thousand dollars for a trip home. Cool. Crooked!” “The Wuling Zhiguang I bought for 1,000 yuan, I don’t know how many hands, is running like a whirring, but when you close the door, you have to stomp a few times with your feet, otherwise it won’t close!”

Some netizens shared similar experiences: “I was in a hurry to go to Xi’an, but I didn’t buy a ticket. I bought a second-hand Lingyue at 12,000, the 4A91 one, drove it all the way back, and sold it for 13,000. It’s pretty good.”

Shanghai has been closed for more than a month, and on May 17, it was announced that the social situation was cleared. In the past few days, many people from other places stranded in Shanghai have fled, and the Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station is crowded with at least tens of thousands of people leaving Shanghai every day.

Because there are too many people wanting to leave Shanghai, ticket-grabbing software and high-priced tickets from scalpers are prevalent, but the government has covered up the chaos in Shanghai and severely censored such information.

On May 17, an interview video of Shanghai’s official media “The Paper” attracted attention online. The video shows that the reporter is suspected of being at the station, asking the interviewed girls how to buy tickets.

The lady suddenly asked during her speech: “Hanging software… Is this okay to say?”

The reporter was stunned for a while before saying, “Yes, yes, we report everything, and report the real situation.”

The interviewed girls then mentioned their experience of using a ticket grabbing software with their companions. Then, she asked again: “Uh, scalpers… Can this be said?” After getting a positive answer, she continued to introduce how she found “scalpers” to buy tickets.

Some netizens mocked the authorities’ censorship of speech, and when they forwarded the video, they deliberately added the sentence “Can this be forwarded?” However, the video was blocked on Weibo the next day.

Many people who couldn’t get tickets came up with various ways to escape from Shanghai. A video posted on the Internet showed a man with a puppy sitting on a homemade foam feller, using branches as pulp, and planning to float back to Jiangxi by waterway home.

A resident on the bank along the way dissuaded him and said, “You can’t go back to Jiangxi like this. You really can’t go. You will disperse in a while. Really, really, you can’t go.”

The man replied, “Go back for a swim when you’re gone.”
