Oderzo, the Cristallo cinema reopens after a year: “It’s a new beginning, we hope to make it”

The city hall, famous for its reviews, screened the fantasy “Dune” on Thursday evening for about sixty spectators

ODERZO. Those doors had not opened for eleven months. Eleven months of sighs, waiting, and lots of streaming. But yesterday, when the Crystal Cinema finally reopened its doors, the theater took a revenge not just: a computer screen will never be like the ritual of the cinema, a ceremony made entirely of meeting, passion and sharing. Not many tickets sold last night, the first day of opening: out of the 249 tickets available, about sixty sold. But it is a good start, which somehow dispels the worries of the eve.

“Dune”, the reworking of the science fiction masterpiece released a few days ago directed by Denis Villeneuve, was a title of sure appeal, ideal to restart almost a year later: the production invested 165 million dollars to shoot and send it in the hall, and the Cristallo also wants to help raise the total of the box office and for this reason it leaves it in the single-screen program until Sunday.

“We saw a lot of interest on Facebook when we announced our reopening. Now, frankly, we hope that that interest will turn into tickets: the situation is not yet the most rosy “, said last night Maria Pia Tonetto, who with her children Fabio and Paolo Casonato reopened the cash desk and checked the Green pass at the entrance.

The interest was a great pleasure, also because it was immediately asked when the appointments would start with the review of auteur cinema that makes the Cristallo a real jewel in the Treviso province. That calendar was also composed: «Let’s start on Tuesday with“ The bad poet ”, the film by Gianluca Jodice in which Sergio Castellitto plays D’Annunzio. It is a film from last year, which due to Covid we have not yet been able to bring to Oderzo. We care », Tonetto continues.

From here to December there will also be space for more recent films, including some seen for the first time at the last Venice Film Festival: there will be “Welcome Venice” by Andrea Segre, “Qui rido io” by Mario Martone with Toni Servillo and “The father – Nothing is as it seems”, winner of two Oscars including Best Actor, Anthony Hopkins. «Let’s leave: we will be there every Tuesday and Wednesday. Let’s hope it goes well », confides Tonetto. The doors are now open: it is enough for Oderzo to answer.
