The 18th edition on the island of the Italian leg of the World Rally Championship, a car event second only to Formula 1

OLBIA. A course of 20 special stages in three stages and over 303 timed kilometers. Champions from 23 countries for 59 crews at the starting line. It is the Rally Italia Sardegna, the 18th edition on the island of the Italian leg of the World Rally Championship, an automobile event second only to Formula 1.

The details of the race were presented this afternoon May 31 in Olbia, which after seven years returns to host the headquarters of the rally event. With Angelo Sticchi Damiani, president of the Automobile Club of Italy which organizes the event with Aci Sport and the logistical support of Aci Sassari, there were the mayor Settimo Nizzi, the regional councilor of Sport, Gianni Chessa, main sponsor of the event, the regional councilor for programming, Giuseppe Fasolino, the president of Aci Sassari Giulio Pes and Antonio Turitto, general manager of the event. It runs from 3 to 6 June.

The return to Gallura after seven years in Alghero brings numerous innovations in and out of the competition, with collateral events designed so that Sardinia makes the most of a unique promotional showcase. The fifth round of the world championship is also valid for Wrc2 and Wrc3. Among the drivers in the race there will be Oliver Solberg, in quarantine after his father, the former world champion Petter, tested positive for Covid. All the protagonists of the title race and all the main car manufacturers of the world rallying circus at the start: at the top of the provisional ranking is Sebastien Ogier, on Toyota Yaris WRC, closely followed by teammate Elfyn Evans.
