Results of the municipal authorities in the major centers of the island: 1-1 between center-right and center-left

SASSARI. Abstention triumphs with almost 40 percent at the municipal offices in Sardinia on Saturday and Sunday, in which 97 mayors were elected while the quorum was not reached in Nureci and therefore the commissioner will arrive. Among the largest municipalities, those over 15 thousand inhabitants, there was a tie between the center-right and the center-left, which respectively conquered Olbia and Carbonia. In Capoterra, on the other hand, the ballot takes place.

In Olbia, Settimo Nizzi was reconfirmed, a historical exponent of Forza Italia who passed with his six lists (Fi, Riformatori, Lista Nizzi, Psdaz, Lega and Udc) and after a balanced duel Augusto Navone, with eight civic lists that also represented the center-left, cinquestelle and a piece of the center-right (Fdi and psdaz defectors). Nizzi made his debut as mayor in 1997 and occupied the mayor’s chair for the first time for 10 years, then gave way to Gianni Giovannelli in office until 2016 and took back the post of mayor in 2016.

In Carbonia, on the other hand, the center left triumphed with Pietro Morittu, supported by the Democratic Party and 5 civic lists, who wiped out Luca Pizzuto, candidate of Article 1, 5 stars, Pci and Psi and the center-right candidate Daniele Garau, who collected a civic list , the League and a list that put together Forza Italia, Riformatori and Fratelli d’Italia. Morittu, who got around 66 percent of the votes, directly becomes mayor in the first round, avoiding the ballot.

Finally in Capoterra there is a runoff between Beniamino Piga and Beniamino Garau. A very strange election with center-right and center-left that have split. Piga presented six lists all civic, while Garau was supported by five lists including Psd’az, Lega and Sardegna Twenty Twenty in addition to two civic. Out of the ballot Gianluigi Marras who was supported by Forza Italia, Fratelli d’Italia and Lega and the two leftist representatives Efizio Demuru who counted on a Pd and a civic list, and Attilio Congiu also supported by two lists: Psi and civic. In this municipality we will vote again in two weeks. (enrico gaviano)
