Omicron in Italy, low viral load in the infected and in family members

by admin

The health conditions of “patient zero” and his five cohabitating family members are good: in all four adults, all vaccinated, and two children. “The situation is under control – says the general manager of the ASL of Caserta Ferdinando Russo – patient zero and his family members have a very low viral load, and this, I am referring in particular to adults, is due to the fact that they are vaccinated with two doses “.

Tests on 133 passengers activated

Tests were activated on the 133 passengers on the flight from South Africa that landed in Fiumicino on 11 November and on which the Eni employee subsequently infected by the Omicron variant was traveling. The swabs will then be sequenced at the Spallanzani Institute.

Department, positive, had no contact in Lombardy

The Italian patient affected by the Omicron variant “had no contact with other people, either in the workplace or in the non-working environment, in the Lombardy region”. This is what is learned from internal sources of the Lombardy Region Welfare Department. The Campania engineer – we learn – never went to the Milan workplace.

The classmates of the children are negative

Two elementary school classes of Caserta in isolation for precautionary reasons following the first case of positivity to the Omicron variant: these are the classes attended by the two sons of the man, both positive, where, however, no new cases have emerged. The ASL of Caserta has traced in recent days all the contacts made by the man and by relatives, in particular by the children, carrying out a few dozen swabs to the pupils and teachers of the two classes. Two series of tests have already been carried out five days apart.

The reconstruction of the movements from 11 to 16 November

The results of the sequencing on the genetic material of the five family members of the manager from Caserta who contracted the Omicron variant are expected in the next few hours, more likely for tomorrow. This was always made known by the general manager of the ASL of Caserta. The swabs carried out so far have highlighted the positivity to Covid of the wife, the in-laws and the two children of the manager who live in the same house and we now await confirmation that it is also for them the South African variant. The man had landed on 11 November at the Roman airport of Fiumicino coming from Mozambique, then he stayed in Caserta for three days with his family and then left on 15 November by plane to Milan for a medical check in view of a new trip to Mozambique. On November 16, the manager performed the swab and the positivity emerged. The man then returned to Caserta by car and remained in solitary confinement.
