Online sale of illegal drugs, the Palermo prosecutor’s office obscures 34 sites

by admin

PALERMO – Thirty-four sites, which sold drugs in ways considered dangerous to health, were blocked by the police and made unreachable in Italy thanks to the notification, to 171 Internet service providers, of preventive seizure decrees issued by the Palermo Public Prosecutor’s Office. Among the drugs on sale, even those used against Covid.

The high-impact international operation, promoted by the Interpol secretariat general of Lyon as part of the “Illicit Goods and Global Health Program” and carried out with the collaboration of 194 countries, aims to raise public awareness of the dangers of purchasing drugs sold through unofficial channels, with particular reference to those used for the treatment of SARS Cov-2.

In Italy, the operations were coordinated by the Postal and Communications Police Service and conducted by the Western Sicily Department of Palermo, with the collaboration of the same Departments of Bologna and Ancona and with the participation of the International Police Cooperation Service.

All the blocked sites, which are registered and hosted by foreign servers, are regularly indexed on search engines and delivered drugs on the Italian territory for which prior health authorization is required.
