Open the Olimpico for the Europeans

Among the many challenges that Italy must face in the coming months to get out of the pandemic tunnel and start again, there is an apparently secondary one but which if won would give an important signal on the desire to return to normality in our country. The challenge is that of the European Football Championships, which from 11 June to 11 July will see twenty-four national teams face off in twelve stadiums in twelve different cities.. Four games should be played at the Olimpico in Rome. We use the conditional because UEFA has established that it will only be played in the stadiums open to the public, and at the moment Italy has not yet guaranteed to allow spectators to enter the four Roman stages of the tournament. When UEFA talks about open stadiums, it does not have in mind stands crowded with tens of thousands of fans massed and assembled, but thinks of structures in which the influx of the public is controlled and organized so as not to risk Covid outbreaks.
