As this subway line with the largest number of districts and counties, the widest coverage area, the longest line, the most stations and transfer stations, and the most difficult construction in Changsha has officially “opened its doors to welcome passengers”, the mileage of Changsha’s rail transit operating lines has exceeded 209. km, and the number of operating stations increased to 148, including 18 subway transfer stations.

This is also the first rail transit PPP project in Changsha. After the line is opened, Changsha Suicheng Company, established by Guangzhou Metro Group, Changsha Rail Transit Line 6 Construction Company, Jiadu Technology Group, and China Railway Electrification Bureau Group, will be responsible for the operation and maintenance.

The complex engineering environment of Line 6, coupled with the impact of the interweaving of the three-year epidemic, all the builders united as one to continuously remove “stumbling blocks”, “stumbling blocks”, and “hard bones”, and achieved remarkable results.

In particular, in the South Station of Martyrs Park, the technology of combining open and dark excavation is adopted, and the undercut section reaches 418.4 square meters, ranking the highest in Hunan region; the section between Liugoulong Station and Wenchangge Station passing through the Xiangjiang River section overcomes the risk of river bed rock formation and introduces Kemu. Using the effective construction method, 114 tools have been replaced to achieve “zero settlement” of existing subway tunnels, surface roads and pipelines.

As a PPP project, Line 6 introduced Guangzhou Metro and other social capitals to jointly set up Changsha Suicheng Company, which is responsible for the B package (mechanical construction + operation) part of the line. During the construction of the line electromechanical, adhering to the concept of “human fashion, safety and reliability, green environmental protection, and intelligent high-end”, a number of “firsts” have been created:

Based on the design concept of “Prosperous Xiaoxiang·Glory New City”, the whole line is designed by extracting Changsha’s characteristic cultural and technological elements, and has created 5 cultural themed stations:

●Zhongtang Station takes “Yuelu Culture” as its theme, and extracts the spiritual core of Yuelu Academy’s youth aspiring, culture as soul, and youth as wings as the design elements, showing the spiritual power of the city’s continuous progress.

●Wenchangge Station takes “Interesting Changsha” as its theme, and takes Changsha dialect as its design inspiration. It combines cultural connotation with interesting content, which not only reflects the unique regional characteristics, but also allows people to experience the cultural atmosphere.

●Martyrs Park South Station takes “Revolutionary Inheritance” as the theme, pays attention to the harmony of the surrounding environment, and endows the station with a “majestic, bright and solemn” space experience.

●Longping Rice Museum Station takes “Praise for the Harvest” as the theme, integrates the design elements of rice and terraces, depicts a grand harvest with artistic techniques, and praises the “Strivers of the New Era”.

●The theme of Huanghua Airport T1T2 station is “sail with the wind”. It continues the space form of the terminal building of Huanghua Airport. The shape of the arch in the middle is progressive, showing the image of the mainstay of Changsha’s new era strugglers.

Line 6 will continue to use the current pricing method and pricing standard, and implement “same price on the same network”, starting at 2 yuan for 6 kilometers, and using the principle of “decreasing distance” for more than 6 kilometers. The maximum fare for the whole journey is 8 yuan. Changsha Happiness, which continues to have low fares, will continue to implement the current preferential policies and the range of free passengers.

In the initial stage of the opening of Line 6, the shortest travel interval was 4 minutes and 52 seconds, which refreshed the operation speed of the same period. In the later period, it will be gradually shortened according to the passenger flow and operation conditions. The one-way running time of the train is 82 minutes. The operating time is consistent with the other 5 lines, that is, 6:30-23:00. Line 6 is Changsha’s first direct subway line to the airport. There are 6 transfer stations. Passengers can go to Wenchangge Station, Yingbin Road Station, Renmin East Road Station, Chaoyangcun Station, Liugoulong Station, and Furong District. The government station and subway lines 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 transfer, and travel will be more convenient.

As a subway line covering the city’s east-west passenger flow corridor, Line 6 will effectively relieve the east-west traffic pressure, guide the orderly expansion of the city, and quickly connect the Hexi Intercity Rail Hub and Huanghua Airport.

After the initial operation of Line 6, Changsha Urban Rail Transit’s “m”-shaped structure and double “cross”-shaped expansion line grid have been fully formed.
