The “Friends of Talmone and Cala di Trana” ask for an intervention by the Municipality

PALAU. The collection of signatures organized by the “Friends of Talmone and Cala di Trana” for the protection of the dunes in the territory of Palau has begun. Numerous supporters have already signed up for the initiative online, aimed at sensitizing local administrators to safeguarding natural beauties.

«Hikers coming from the path and vacationers arriving by sea with boats and rafts – reads the appeal – trample the dune every day, regardless of the indications provided by volunteers and environmental associations. TOadults and adolescents let themselves roll along the slope, which they call “the slide”, dig or carve their name along the walls of the dune, collect and carry away sandy sediments and other material from the top ».

The signatories ask the Municipality to intervene as soon as possible, with concrete protection actions. «The coastal strips – continues the collection of signatures – are a fundamental strategic resource for the sustainable development of the Sardinian territory. The regional landscape plan intends, among other things, to protect and pass on to future generations the environmental identity of the Sardinian territory, protect the natural landscape and its biodiversity, ensure the protection of the territory and promote forms of sustainable development ».
