PALERMO – The carabinieri of the Palermo San Lorenzo Company have carried out an order of precautionary custody in prison, issued by the investigating judge of the Court at the request of the Prosecutor, against 7 people accused in various ways of detention and illegal carrying of firearms, receiving stolen goods and possession for the purpose of drug trafficking.

The investigation, carried out between March and June 2020 in the midst of the pandemic crisis, was triggered after the discovery of a weapons and ammunition depot in the vicinity of a villa near Fondo Gallo, in the Cep – Borgonuovo district, which was used by owners, husband, wife and two of their three children to hide common and clandestine guns.

During the investigation, 6 people were illegally arrested and 5 weapons of different types and calibers were recovered, including a Beretta CX4 “Storm” semi-automatic rifle, a clandestine pistol and one that had been stolen, all efficient and ready for use. in addition to a large number of ammunition.

The arrested also managed drug trafficking, as evidenced by the seizure of an entire marijuana plantation, cultivated by abusive connection to the public electricity grid, implanted in a “bunker” built in the vicinity of a pigsty belonging to the villa.

During the operation, an illegal slaughterhouse was also found, with the help of the forest police, where numerous pigs were illegally slaughtered and processed, with the subsequent seizure of more than a quintal of meat in a cold room.
