A 9-year-old boy was transported by the 118 health workers in a coma to the Di Cristina pediatric hospital in Palermo after ingesting methadone. According to an initial reconstruction, some friends would have told him that it was tea, offering him a bottle. The little boy has now been hospitalized in the intensive care unit, where his parents, originally from Pioppo, a fraction of Monreale, are also there.
The prosecutor has opened a file, currently against unknown persons, to clarify the exact dynamics of the facts. The investigations are conducted by the police of the Monreale group, warned by the doctors of the Children’s Hospital. The first blood tests confirmed the traces of methadone.
In recent months, other similar episodes had occurred: even small children in a coma had arrived at the Di Cristina hospital for having taken drugs. Often, these are children of drug addicts.
