PALERMO – The carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Palermo have carried out a precautionary custody order under house arrest against the brothers Giuseppe and Benedetto Amato, aged 41 and 46, already under investigation in the investigation that brought the boss of the “mandamento” by Pagliarelli Giuseppe Calvaruso, who has just returned from Brazil to spend the holidays with his family, and some of his supporters. The investigations coordinated by the Palermo Anti-Mafia District Prosecutor’s Office led to the seizure of commercial activities, assets and current accounts. The two arrested are accused of fraudulent transfer of values ​​aggravated by the mafia method and modalities.

The arrested entrepreneurs are the owners of the Carlo V restaurant, in the historic center of Palermo, and are accused of being the figurehead of Giuseppe Calvaruso, considered an occult partner in the commercial activity. Yes, they would be fictitiously registered in the boss’s luxury goods, including a Porsche Cayenne. One of the two brothers returned last Monday evening from Spain where, in Lanzarote, in the Canary Islands, he wanted to open a business. Giuseppe Calvaruso, who according to the investigators would have considerable entrepreneurial and relational skills, planned together with the two arrested to build a commercial empire that could guarantee huge formally legitimate income. During the operation, the company “Edil Professional”, a construction company, was also seized, according to the order of the investigating judge, fictitiously registered to two suspects, to which Giuseppe Calvaruso had received numerous orders for the renovation of apartments and buildings in the capital Sicilian. Finally, current accounts attributable to the two arrested entrepreneurs were seized, through which, on several occasions, Calvaruso was able to receive sums of money to meet the expenses related to booking travel, hotels and dinners. The assets seized amount to 2,500,000 euros.
