Roberta Siragusa, just 17 years old, was found lifeless and with burns on her body in a cliff of Monte San Calogero, in Caccamo, on the morning of January 24th. It was the boy himself who had the body found by the police. The two had spent the evening with friends. After a fight in front of the other boys, they drove away. The suspect said that the discussion would go on and Roberta, after having sprinkled herself with petrol, would set herself on fire and would have fallen into the cliff. Morreale explained that to try to save her he would also have burned his hand. A version that investigators have always considered unreliable. In fact, the autopsy revealed that the girl had a deep wound to the head and signs of burns in various parts of the body, so much so that she no longer had her hair. Subsequently, thanks to the images taken by some surveillance cameras near the Caccamo sports field and to some objects – including a key that was certainly Roberta Siragusa’s – the Prosecutor claimed that the young woman would have been killed right there and then set on fire. . A car – which according to the accusation would be that of Morreale – would then remain stationary while the body burned. According to the reconstruction, the girl’s body was then transported along Monte San Calogero and then thrown into the cliff, where no traces of fire were found. For the investigators, moreover, a camera would have filmed Morreale’s car passing twice along the dirt road that leads to the place where the body was found. The friends of the two boys explained to the carabinieri that Morreale was not new to violence against Roberta. The prosecutor never believed in the alternative version provided by the suspect, who is assisted by the lawyer Gaetano Giunta. The lawyer today raised the objection of unconstitutionality of the rule that prohibits admission to the shortened procedure. The application was rejected.
