The volunteers have finished the works along the promenade and the mountain paths connected to it. Now the focus is on the Romotoi via ferrata: the Auronzo mountain guides at work

LORENZAGO. Lorenzago is preparing to welcome tourists and trekking enthusiasts: the Parco dei Sogni reopens, the path dedicated to Pope John Paul I, and the path to Col Audoi. The opening of a railway track in the locality of “Romotoi” is coming soon.

The works on the Parco dei Sogni, the most popular walk for locals and tourists in Lorenzago, ended yesterday. This is due to the synergy between the administration, specialized companies and Cai volunteers, which lasted more than a month, to redevelop and enhance the Lorenzago park and paths. “Thanks to a contribution for the water works”, explains Deputy Mayor Emilio Fabbro, “we were able to hire some local forest companies to repair the damage to the Parco dei Sogni caused by the intense autumn rains and heavy snow at the end of December and January. . After a month of work, we were able to close the construction site and make one of the most beautiful walks in our municipality accessible again to villagers, hikers and all visitors ».

Completely rebuilt road surface, fords and drainage channels replaced and positioning of new wooden fences: the Parco dei Sogni di Lorenzago has a new look and, from there, it is possible to undertake two other itineraries subjected to extraordinary maintenance: path no. 336 dedicated to Pope John Paul II and the path that leads to Col Audoi. The latter has been entirely restored thanks to the precious work of the Lorenzago volunteers who, every day, compatibly with their work commitments, dedicate their time to the maintenance of the territory in order to offer a better service.

«From the beginning of spring to today», continues the deputy mayor and pro-tempore president of the CAI section, «we have completed the extraordinary maintenance of 80% of our path network. There are almost 200 hours of work for each volunteer, with a total of 20 km of path restored between sections of collapsed road and trees to be removed to create the passage. We had to wait for the snow to melt to do the damage count, then we rolled up our sleeves and organized cleaning days, giving priority to the more touristic routes, such as the “Pope’s” path and the Romotoi gorge ” .

Everything is ready in Lorenzago for the tourist season and in the meantime the group of alpine guides “Tre Cime di Lavaredo” from Auronzo is setting up a path equipped with a via ferrata on the Romotoi path, which will connect the municipalities of Lorenzago and Vigo. another important action that we take to attract new mountain enthusiasts », concludes Fabbro. “The works are continuing and we hope to be able to present the itinerary in the next few weeks”.

Meanwhile, the CAI volunteers continue with the arrangement of the remaining part of the path network. «We are working continuously», concludes Emilio Fabbro, «to restore our entire trail heritage. We ask everyone’s cooperation, even if only with the removal of branches in the middle of the route ».
