Park of the five lakes, Coldiretti replies to the mayors: “We do not need new free zones for wild boars”

by admin

The trade association takes it out on Confagricoltura, in favor of the project, and with the mayor of Chiaverano Maurizio Fiorentini: “The position of some administrators is also enjoyable, with interests in online sales platforms, which already provides that agricultural products cultivated in the fields of the area will be able to obtain high prices ». Fiorentini’s reply: “They want a free” double “without controls”

IVREA. Coldiretti increases the dose, in a press release he takes an even tougher stance against the establishment of the Five Lakes Park.

«Coldiretti Turin – writes the trade association – reiterates its opposition to the Natural Park project of the five lakes of Ivrea. The stance of the yellow caps has had a good response. It has been defined as “a bolt from the blue”. The reaction of the mayors was presented by the media as “tough”. Another agricultural union has the usual position: opposite to that of Coldiretti and the establishment of the park seems to be the solution to the problems of local farmers. Also enjoyable is the position of some administrators, with interests in online sales platforms, which already foresees that agricultural products grown in the fields of the area will be able to obtain high prices. Coldiretti reiterates that without stopping the wild boars of local agricultural production there will be very few … fair to consumers. There are also those who, in a polite way, say that farmers speak because “they would not know the application file well”.

Maurizio Fiorentini, mayor of Chiaverano, replies: «From the new Coldiretti press release, one thing is very clear. The only constraint that, according to them, will be imposed by the Park is related to the containment of wild boars. And where are all the other limits and restrictions that will weigh heavily on farmers? No hint. Only wild boars are of interest. Of course, wild boars are a serious problem but do we want to prevent the birth of the park just because someone wants to have a “free shotgun” without controls? SERIOUS containment programs will be implemented with the Park and this, of course, can bother someone. Incredible then the mention of alleged interests for the online sale of products. So raving about it and easily denied by the facts that it doesn’t even deserve an answer ».

Silvio Ferrarese, section president of Coldiretti of Cascinette, Chiaverano and Burolo, argues: «In recent years the farmers have always said they were against the project. A few examples? I expressed this position to Cascinette, both in the city council and in the agriculture committee. If anything, the problem is that no one has been listening ». «I intend to reiterate that establishing a park, where today there is already an oasis, for agricultural entrepreneurs will bring new limitations to agricultural activities – adds Silvio Ferrarese -. Let me give some concrete examples. Today the control of the wild boars in the oasis is in the hands of the Atc To1. In the parks, however, the management of wild boars and wild animals is the responsibility of the Park Authority. We know well what has happened in recent years in the Mandria park, in the Candia park, as well as in the Vaude park. They have become free zones for wild animals that, at night, cross over into nearby areas, causing serious damage to crops. Already today we have many problems with wild boars and we would not want the situation of our fields to get worse “

“It will then be very difficult for the establishment of a new protected area to enhance the local agricultural economy – adds and closes Ferrarese – since wild boars already do damage to all the main crops in the area – from the few existing vineyards, corn, the main crop, as well as wheat and barley, as well as soy and poplar groves. When the park project lands in the Piedmont Region, the farmers, hitherto unheard, claim the right to return to disagree on this project ».

Pietro Giuseppe Sospisio, president of the yellow caps of Montalto Dora, explains: «We have always said we were opposed to this project. My father already did it, when he was president of the section. The main problem for agriculture in our area are wild boars. Establishing the park would mean creating a free zone for wild animals who, at night, would invade the crops close to the protected area. This is what has been happening for years in many parks in the Turin area ». «I would like to point out some other things – adds Pietro Giuseppe Sospisio -. Already today our fields are attacked and rooted by wild boars that come down from the hills of Mombarone, as from Cavallaria. In recent years we have come to an emergency: that of the wild is an invasion. Damages are paid late. The cultivations of our fields already today have no future. We have always protested, but we have the feeling of being like the two of spades in the card game: we count almost nothing. The damage is already so serious today that we are often forced to change crop investments. After the sown corn is rooted two or three times in a row, we give up on resowing it. In these days the wild boars have beaten me and enticed the soy, sown as a second crop, in the fields located between Montalto Dora and Borgo Franco d’Ivrea. It looked like a roller had gone by. And also the interventions to contain the wild boars carried out in recent times, those characterized by the pandemic that arrived with the covid-19, have produced very few results. The number of ungulates has increased. Often the hunters who have to kill the wild boars make fun of us, make fake jokes and kill only the male heads, leaving the females unscathed. Even the electrified wire, which came from the metropolitan city of Turin, does not protect our crops that much. Faced with this situation, we need effective containment measures for wild boars and not to establish new free zones for wild boars… ».
