BRUSSELS. MEP Brando Benifei unanimously reconfirmed at the helm of the Pd group in Brussels. “I want to express my thanks to the new secretary Enrico Letta for participating in our group meeting and to my fellow MEPs for having unanimously reconfirmed my position as head of delegation of the Pd to the European Parliament”. This is what Brando Benifei declared at the end of the meeting just concluded between the dem MEPs and the secretary.
«I am honored by the esteem received and I accept the assignment with pride and humility, aware of the new challenges ahead of us for the relaunch of the European agenda and for the restart of the country. I will do my best, as I have always tried to do, to give strength to the great teamwork of our group here in Brussels ”, continued Benifei. “As Secretary Letta declared today, we have a duty to break the veto-cracy that bogs down Europe and takes away sovereignty from European citizens. The Democratic Party will invest a great deal of political capital in the Conference on the Future of Europe to re-balance the action of the Union in a social sense, to implement a new agenda of rights and to make the EU equal to economic competition and global politics. The next political challenges – concluded Benifei – will be the reform of European economic governance and the deployment of the Next Generation EU to make Europe more sustainable and digital, with the creation of a true European fiscal Union.
