Pedemontana, from Montebelluna to Bassano in eighteen minutes: a commuter will spend 11 euros a day

by admin

The intermediate sections cost an average of two euros for a few kilometers. Entrepreneurs: discounts for residents

The fears of artisans and small entrepreneurs are confirmed when the display at the Bassano Ovest toll booth lights up and shows the figure for those who entered Montebelluna: five and fifty euros. It took us exactly 18 minutes to travel, respecting the limit of 110 kilometers per hour, the 35 kilometers in question, in fact for a commuter forced to go Montebelluna-Bassano and return every day would spend, every day, the beauty of 11 euros. And even the intermediate sections are not exactly cheap: this is why, even before the ribbon cutting, the categories had asked for discounts on the toll for residents, and this is the request that entrepreneurs and workers will continue to pursue.

Until yesterday, there was no way to know how much the toll cost except by trying the Expressway for yourself. The official site continued to provide the amounts of only the Vicenza toll booths already active, the “toll calculator” was updated only in the evening up to Altivole. For now, the Pedemontana does not exist on Google maps or even the most up-to-date of navigators. For this reason, yesterday afternoon at 3.30 pm, when we first entered the highway that cuts the Veneto from East to West, the lanes were desolately empty, except for a couple of trucks crossed along the route. We found all the (few) cars at the toll booths, because – perhaps it is only a problem in the early days – the automatic cash machines struggle to accept banknotes, forcing motorists to make countless attempts. The Montebelluna Est-Bassano Ovest stretch costs, as mentioned, 5.50 euros, and in a day of low traffic it takes about twenty minutes. The situation changes – slightly – from Bassano Est onwards, where the flow of vehicles seems more consistent, also because the next section, up to Malo, has already been operational for a few weeks.

Going backwards along the stretch inaugurated yesterday, the first thing you notice are the signs that already give directions to Treviso: in reality the last segment, from Montebelluna to the junction with the A27, will only be completed at the end of 2021 or , more likely, in the first months of 2022. The first toll booth in the province of Treviso coming from Vicenza is that of Riese: from Bassano it takes seven minutes, the cost is two euros and 10 cents. The toll booths alternate with similar distances and times. After Riese it’s up to Altivole, which on the official Superstra maps is indicated as Montebelluna Ovest (wording of which there is no trace on the road signs): always seven minutes, cost € 1.80. Third and last Treviso toll booth, Montebelluna Est (which on the signs becomes Montebelluna … and that’s it): about eight minutes from Altivole, exactly 2 euros.andrea de polo
