Yet another crackdown by the National Police in Lomé. A network of criminals specializing in burglary of homes in the absence of the occupants was dismantled on February 2 in Lomé, more precisely in the Adamavo district (Commune Golfe 6). Facts :
These are three individuals, two of Togolese nationality and one of Beninese nationality all residing in the Gulf 6 commune. Indeed, according to the Police Commissioner, Mangalene Mablika, on the night of December 31, 2023 to January 1, 2024, during that the victim was at the church for the vigil of New Year’s Eve, “Kossivi Dieudonné broke into the victim’s home by smashing the doors using bricks and to succeed took away a sum of 9 million 960 thousand FCFA”.
After his crime, he went to hide this sum in a room under construction adjacent to his home. “His friend Yao Lucien having discovered the hiding place, went to the place and extracted a sum of 5 million 400 thousand CFA francs which he left to hand over directly to the Charlatan for the purification ceremonies before use; specifying of course that this sum is the proceeds of the theft,” informed the Police.
Instead of denouncing him, the charlatan preferred to engage in this “dirty work”. “He claims to have used 1 million 500 FCFA for the purification ceremonies and the rest they shared. Dieudonné’s persistent threats of reprisals against Yao alerted the Police who immediately took up this matter. The three criminals were arrested, interviewed, they admit all the facts,” said Police Commissioner Mangalene Mablika.
Furthermore, searches carried out at their home led to the seizure of three new motorcycles purchased with the victim’s money. The continuation of the investigations later made it possible to identify the victim who filed a complaint against these criminals. The latter will be presented to the Public Prosecutor of the Lomé High Court to answer for their actions.
