The Municipality of Pont will have to pay 60 thousand euros to the buyer of a part of the old primary school in Via Marconi. This is what emerged during the session of the city council held on Friday evening, which provided for a change to the municipal budget having this sum as its object.
Frontal collision
Thirty thousand euros is the deposit that must be returned to the buyer, with another 30 thousand euros by way of relief from the inconvenience suffered, or that of not being able to conclude the purchase contract and use the premises within the agreed time.
This is because the primary school has not yet moved from the building in via Marconi to that in via Roma, which until the last school year housed the average (now transferred to the new school) and for which seismic adjustment works are planned for the value of 500 thousand euros. However, works that have not yet been carried out, according to the minority “due to the inability of the administration led by Bruno Riva”, according to the latter “because the bureaucratic process, or the approval of the project by the Region, has concluded only on 22 September last ».
A missed chrono program
The issue has been the subject of exchanges of accusations between majority and minority, or rather between the current and the old municipal administration. «How did you manage to sell the premises of the school with the children still inside – asked Riva, addressing the former mayor Paolo Coppo – without having the certainty of concluding the operation, of having the project approved in a short time? Moreover, by taking on such a compromise situation, so that now we have to return a doubled deposit ».
«According to our time schedule, the works would have been completed in time – Coppo retorted -. The project, moreover, was agreed with the Region, so it is not clear why it took you a year to complete the process ».
Unknowns on alienation
Despite the controversy, however, the minority group approved the budget change. “The resolution is limited to evaluating the accounting aspect on which there is nothing to complain about – said Coppo -. We reiterate the administration’s inability to manage public money which in this case generated the need to compensate 60 thousand euros. to a private individual of which 30 thousand euros as a penalty and another 30 thousand euros as a refund of a deposit paid for the sale of a part of the elementary school. In the event that in the near future the property does not find new purchase interest, the non-sale would result in a lower income of 150 thousand euros to the municipal budget and a possible damage in various respects “. Distant parties, therefore, and a question, as mentioned, far from resolved and destined to fuel further controversy.
