PONTECAGNANO FAIANO – Blitz on the coast road. The carabinieri of the Pontecagnano Faiano station intercept a stolen car in Capaccio Paestum. On board the Ford, most likely, two African citizens who, at the sight of the military, have lost their tracks in the surrounding countryside. The car was noticed by the military, under the orders of commander Fabio Laurentini, during a territorial control service. A chase ensued: the criminals felt hunted, they abandoned the car and then flee on foot and avoid capture by the carabinieri. Inside the car, the carabinieri found material for the aspiration of diesel fuel and some empty tanks. The two, most likely, had intended to carry out a theft, which was then foiled thanks to the prompt intervention of the carabinieri. The car has been returned to its rightful owner.
On the part of the military, coordinated by Major Vitantonio Sisto of the Compagnia di Battipaglia, the investigative work continues to trace the identity of the two criminals who were inside the Ford, also through the relief of the fingerprints left on the car. The control work of the police in the area is strengthened, especially after the robberies and thefts carried out in recent weeks to the detriment of traders. The response of the carabinieri and municipal police was not long in coming: closer monitoring also in this period of confinement imposed by the government and the region to contain the number of coronavirus infections. More careful and targeted controls will also be put in place to stop petty crime phenomena. A team work between the Carabinieri and the municipal police, to prepare an intervention plan capable of involving the entire territory. Anti-Covid controls will be intensified with checkpoints in strategic points of the city.
