Post by the mayor of Udine on social media to invite people to get vaccinated and insults from no vax rain down

Fontanini has published, and then removed, some sentences in support of the anti Covid campaign. The Municipality launches the free public transport service to the vaccination center at the Fair

UDINE. He publishes a post on his Facebook profile in support of the anti Covid vaccination campaign and after a few hours he is forced to delete it due to the heavy insults.

At the center of this non-vax “attack” is the mayor Pietro Fontanini, who yesterday, on the sidelines of the council meeting, wanted to refer to the incident: “My thoughts on the subject were made explicit in a post that, then, I had to remove because a series of insults have arrived from those who do not believe in vaccination and think, by now, that they are out of danger – says the mayor -. Instead, the danger still exists.

So, not only vaccines but also masks in closed places. Remove them only outdoors. I can’t understand – adds Fontanini – why there are so many people in this region who do not want to get vaccinated, especially among the over 60s, despite being among the most at risk ages.

We saw it with the latest pandemic wave: even here in the city there have been many deaths – continues the mayor of the Friulian capital -. A tragedy that should convince us to rapidly increase vaccinations to achieve that fundamental herd immunity to overcome this epidemic. Herd immunity that is achieved with vaccination, there are no other avenues. Yet this is not the case. In the meantime, I invite everyone to continue to respect the basic rules: keep your distance and clean your hands. Rules that have worked, giving, all together, a small contribution to stem this disease ». In the post published in the mayor’s profile (and later deleted), reference was made, in fact, to the fact that vaccines represent the only safe weapon against the new variants of the coronavirus.

“Do you want to travel, go to the stadium, to the disco? Do you want to go to museums, cinemas, theaters and all other closed places, even restaurants? You vaccinate – wrote Fontanini -. You are free not to get vaccinated, but not to endanger the life of other people. And above all, you can’t take the liberty of being locked up again in yet another lockdown.

We can no longer afford other mistakes ». Words that have triggered the reaction of those who do not share the vaccine solution, and who consider it an experiment, of those who want to be free to decide not to have anything inoculated. Controversy aside, there are currently 6 coronavirus positive people and 16 quarantined in the city.

Numbers, therefore, very low compared to a few months ago, when the city paid a high toll in terms of victims, especially in the second wave: 397. To achieve herd immunity mentioned by Fontanini, the Municipality has decided to take the field directly, providing a free transport service to the vaccination center of the fair body, in Torreano di Martignacco.

A service reserved for residents, which can also be used by the disabled (the vehicle used is designed for the transport of wheelchairs).

To book the ride, simply contact the Udine section of the Anmic, the National Association for the mutilated and disabled, by sending an email to the anmic address. udine @ anmicudine. it or by calling 0432510220, from Monday to Friday from 9 to 12. The initiative, as far as the Municipality is concerned, is promoted by the Health Department headed by Giovanni Barillari.
